In all my professional years in the mortgage industry, I am not surprised by the lack of money management skills that the average Australian possesses in this day and age. With the greater number of lenders, brokers and investors than ever before interested in lending you money their way rather than teaching you how to borrow from them more cheaply.
Borrowers still haven't educated themselves to the level of competence that would protect themselves from the crooks and rip off merchants who have flourished in equal numbers to lenders. The result... separating unexpecting borrower (victims) from their money.
There isn't a week that goes by without a TV or newspaper story being reported about another bad loan deal leaving the borrower feeling depressed and loosing everything including family. Hopefully I can change that even if in a small way.
